Vauxhall Support for Wembley to Hampden Bike Ride
A group of Scotland supporters embarked on a charity cycle ride from Wembley Stadium to Hampden Park ahead of the big match between the Auld Enemy in June with a little help from Vauxhall and Arnold Clark.
Setting off from Wembley Stadium early morning on Tuesday 6th June the cyclists arrived at Hampden Park in the afternoon of Saturday 10th June, just in time for kick-off.
The five-day charity bike ride was undertaken to help raise money for the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal.
The aim of the appeal is to make a donation to identified children’s charities in every country in which the Scottish National Football Team plays matches.
Last year, the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal made six individual £5,000 donations, including one to Lifeline 4 Kids in London following the reverse fixture in November.
The appeal was started by Scotland supporters on their own initiative and since 2003 it has provided support to numerous countries across the world.
Tom Dearie, one of the riders who has helped to organise the event, said: "Having organised charity rides over multiple days in the past, I cannot stress enough the importance of the donation of two support vehicles from Vauxhall/Arnold Clark.
"Not only did the vehicles provide daily support for the team and help us transport our kit through each stage, its also a huge cost saving that allows more money to go directly to the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal.
"Everyone associated with the ride appreciates what Vauxhall/Arnold Clark have done in making the two vehicles available to us.”
Arnold Clark Chief Executive and Group Managing Director Eddie Hawthorne, said: “It’s a real pleasure to help Tom and the team with their support transport for such an important cause and we are delighted they made it on time to Hampden to watch the incredible game.”
