Vauxhall UK National Teams Photographer of the Year Announced

The Vauxhall UK National Teams Photographer of the Year for 2016 has been awarded to Wales’ Carl Recine of Action Images. Carl’s portfolio of Wales captured their sensational Euro 2016 campaign.

Cheryl Stibbs, Sponsorship Marketing Manager, said: “We first launched our photography competition back in 2011, but are still impressed by the interest and quality of entries our awards attract each year.

“Carl’s portfolio captured Wales’ incredible summer in France brilliantly. He was our unanimous choice and worthy winner of the top award.

“He delivered an extremely impressive selection and combination of action and portrait imagery which demonstrated the excitement and drama of this sport at international level.”

The Sun’s Richard Pelham claimed first prize for England’s Inspirational #GetIN Photograph for 2016 for his image of Daniel Sturridge scoring a late winner for the Three Lions against Wales at Euro 2016. Pelham also scooped first prize in the Vauxhall England Best Individual Photograph category for his stunning picture of Joe Hart’s world class save during England’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia in October.

Northern Ireland’s Brian Little also enjoyed a double victory in this year’s competition, scooping first prize in the Photographer of the Year and Best Individual Photograph categories. Coming out on top for his selection of action-packed photos of the national team’s footballing year and his image of Kyle Lafferty acrobatic overhead kick against the Czech Republic.

Individual Photograph of the Year for Wales was awarded to Getty’s Michael Regan for his photo of Hal Robson-Kanu celebrating his quarter-final wonder strike against Belgium last summer.

Lee Smith of Action Images was crowned England Photographer of the Year for his diverse portfolio of the squad’s time in France at Euro 2016.

Scottish Sun photographer Kenny Ramsay was crowned Scotland Photographer of the Year for his portfolio of Scotland’s football year.

Colm Lenaghan of Pacemaker claimed Northern Ireland’s Inspirational #GetIN Photograph for 2016. Colm’s image showed Gareth McAuley’s pure delight after scoring against Ukraine last summer.

Vauxhall Scotland Inspirational #GetIN Photograph for 2016 was awarded to Craig Williamson of SNS for capturing a Scottish fan cheering on his team ahead of the England clash in November.

Andrew Orchard won Vauxhall Wales Inspirational #GetIN Photograph for 2016 for capturing a tender moment between Gareth Bale and his daughter after victory against Northern Ireland at Euro 2016.

Alan Harvey of SNS reigned victorious in the Vauxhall Scotland Best Individual Photograph category, for his well-timed action-shot of Steven Fletcher’s thunderous header against Malta.
